Sunday • Sportsman’s BBQ Grill-Off (Amateurs welcome!)
People’s Choice BBQ is encouraged from every team. We request a minimum of 5 lbs. of sample. 2oz. taster cups will be provided by the event sponsor.
People’s Choice tasting starts at 2:00 pm on Saturday and 1:00 pm on Sunday.
Teams may participate in People’s Choice tasting for both days with the public judging. 50% of the Taste tickets sold will be divided among each BBQ team based on the number of taste tickets the team turns in.
In addition to the tasting ticket money, the People’s Choice Champion will receive an award, which will be determined by a different colored ticket given to those that purchase taste tickets to drop in a container at each BBQ location. There will also be an award for the best decorated BBQ area!
- KCBS Team check-in will begin at 9:00am September 30.
- Meat Inspections will begin at check-in

- 2 tickets per team given for Cook’s Dinner Friday, 6pm
- Cooks meeting will begin at 7:00 pm Friday evening
- Live BBQs should be attended to at all times
- Potable water is available for all cook sites (One cook site per team) (Please bring your own splitters & hoses)
- Sunday’s Grill-Off check-in will be 7:00 am with meat inspection to follow
- Gray water must be hand trucked to kitchen located near BBQ area, no ground dumping!
- Grease containers will be provided near BBQ area, no ground dumping!
- Ash containers will be provided and are for ash only (No Trash)
- A min 5 lb charged fire extinguisher must be visible at each pit
- All teams must leave their cook-site as clean as they found it
- This is a family event, please use good taste in the display of all banners, etc.
- One vehicle per team may be kept near cook-sites; event staff will determine location of additional vehicle parking.
- Event held rain or shine / No refunds.
- Friday night - Quiet time is 11:00 pm to 7:00 am – Violators may be subject to disqualification
Teams must follow all county health regulations. Please fill out County Health Application and turn in with entry form. This PDF will give you all the details that El Dorado
County requires. All food must be prepared on site per California Retail Food Code Laws!
